Ontario J. Tillman
Community Leader | Educator | Attorney
Ontario J. Tillman is a proud native of Bessemer, Alabama, where he was born and raised. A
devoted family man, he is the father of three children and has been happily married to his wife,
Yvette, for over ten years. As a graduate of the Jess Lanier High School Class of 1996, Ontario
has dedicated his life to service, leadership, and advocacy for his community.
Professional Journey
Ontario’s career began in education, where he has served in the Bessemer City School District
since 2008. He taught at Westhills Elementary School and Bessemer City High School. In
addition to his teaching duties, he served as the Head Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Bessemer
City High School. Under his leadership, the team earned several accomplishments:
- 2014 – Class 6A Final Four Appearance
- 2015 – Regional Appearance
- 2016 – Regional Final Appearance
Legal Career
In 2012, Ontario expanded his commitment to service by entering the field of law, focusing on
criminal defense, juvenile law, and personal injury.
He is:
- Licensed to Practice in the State of Alabama
- Admitted to the U.S. District Courts for:
- Northern District of Alabama
- Middle District of Alabama
- Southern District of Alabama
He is currently a Partner at Maxwell Tillman Law Firm, located in downtown Birmingham,
Alabama.
